Tree worker

As a Tree Worker, you will be involved in the daily cultivation and maintenance of trees and shrubs. Your tasks include planting, transplanting, pruning and shaping young trees, as well as watering plants and keeping cultivation areas free from weeds.

You will also help harvest trees and shrubs, prepare customer orders and load or unload plants and materials. Depending on the season, you will perform different activities, from planting and maintaining trees during the growing season to harvesting and preparing orders during the colder months.

In addition to working with plants, you may help maintain tools, equipment and cultivation areas. You will work in a small team where cooperation, plant quality and careful working are important.

Responsibilities

• Planting, potting and transplanting young trees and shrubs
• Pruning, shaping and tying trees as they grow
• Watering and fertilizing plants
• Removing weeds from fields and container cultivation areas
• Checking plants for diseases and pests
• Harvesting and lifting trees and shrubs
• Sorting, labeling and preparing customer orders
• Loading and unloading plants and materials
• Maintaining tools, equipment and irrigation systems
• Helping maintain container fields, drainage systems and paths
• Supporting general nursery activities throughout the different seasons
• Keeping the workplace clean, safe and organized

About the role

In this position, you will work at Boomkwekerij Verweij in Opheusden through Weflex Personeelsdiensten. You will join a small and professional tree nursery where teamwork, craftsmanship and the quality of trees and shrubs are important.

The work changes throughout the year. During winter and early spring, you will mainly focus on pruning, harvesting, planting and preparing orders for shipment. In spring and summer, the work involves caring for growing trees, watering and controlling weeds. During autumn, you will help prepare for the next cultivation season.

This is a full-time position in the day shift, with working hours from 07:30 to 16:30.
